Breast Cancer Clinical Trails Fund at SBCC

2006
Our Mission is simple.

“To positively effect as many people as possible.

All funds raised directly fueled the uninsured…”

For the first decade this was our fit. And it was appropriate.

2016

Something changed, and evolved from within. Questions emerged…..Could we think bigger?

The Pink Rock has always wanted help each and every person who needed help today- but I questioned How can we impact generations to come???

I had the crazy and lofty thought “What if we could change everything about a person’s experience with Breast Cancer? About prevention…About how it is treated? I mean, isn’t the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?

Clearly if our same mission is really true…..”To positively effect as many people as possible…..

Maybe NOW at our ten year mark we need a bit of reinvention…

That is when I met the innovative thinkers at SBCC. I, the consummate sceptic, was more than impressed.

Hearing words I have never heard a breast cancer specialist speak with confidence….Opportunities to look into prevention and prevention of reoccurrence.

WHY

The Pink Rock has become

The Pink Rock Clinical Trials Fund.

We are so focused on what we can accomplish together. Changing the way we understand and treat breast cancer now and for generations to come.

I truly believe that in our lifetime we will find new and groundbreaking ways to make breast cancer a more easily treatable condition and a far less radical occurrence. So we can assure that not only this generation, but for our children to have far less impact from breast cancer in their lifetimes.

That is why we are now partnering with Stony Brook University Cancer Center. We see the opportunity to tap into the truly forward thinking, innovative minds that make our clear mission a real possibility.

Nothing can take the sting of diagnosis away-

You see, I will never forget the feeling of being told "You Have Invasive Cell Carcinoma"

I didn't even know what that meant.

And little did I know how my life was about to change......FOREVER.

But if we can change this impact- we can change statics for survival, and find less toxic treatment plans

WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED FAR MORE THAN WE HAVE TODAY

We Are Ready For The Future Of Breast Cancer Treatment..

2001

As a small business owner, and single- I didn't even know the cracks I was about to fall through.

Unable to work and operation after operation....

I was impacted on so many fronts.

Personally as a woman

Professionally losing business

Financially as I tried to sustain my home, and then the bills started coming in, and coming in, and coming in.

The uncertainty of my health, my body, my professional life, my home.

I needed to buckle in.

2006 At my fifth year of survivorship, I felt strong enough to step out and make sure no one felt that alone and uncertain.

Thanks to the belief, confidence and vision of my co-founder Walter Hurney.

The Pink Rock Was Born.

2016- THE PINK ROCK HAS RAISED OVER A HALF MILLION DOLLARS AND HAS HELPED MORE THAN 260 PEOPLE.(2015)

We are a charity that helps those in the fight for their lives.

Our Neighbors.
